Dental Fillings

Please follow the below instructions after a dental filling

• Specific to Silver fillings, for the first 24 Hours do not eat from the side of the mouth where the filling has been done and chew only from the opposite side of your mouth.
• However, for tooth-colored fillings, you can start eating anytime as this type of filling fully sets by the time you leave our clinic.
• Your tooth may feel sensitive to cold, hot and/or pressure for a few days. Usually, the deeper the cavity, the more sensitive your tooth can be. Use a mild anti-sensitive tooth paste for a few days. If sensitivity persists beyond a few days or if the sensitivity increases, contact us.
• After we complete the filling; we grind away any excess filling material (High Points) that may not let the upper and lower teeth to meet properly. However, at times, the patient cannot sense these high points after we finish the procedure and may only feel while eating. In such cases, wherein you feel uncomfortable while eating, contact us and we shall call you to our clinic for a minor adjustment.
• We may be required to anesthetize the tooth while filling it. In such cases, your anesthesia will wear off in approximately 1 to 3 hours after the procedure. It is very important not to chew on the numb side (to prevent biting tongue, lip, etc.) until the anesthesia wears off.
