Crown and Bridges
Crown or Bridge work is usually completed in two sittings:
The first sitting - Tooth Preparation:
In the first sitting, we prepare one or more of your teeth for a crown or a bridge and then take an impression of the teeth. This impression is sent to a lab where the crown is fabricated to match your original teeth shape and shade.
Till your next appointment:
- If anesthesia was used during the tooth preparation, do not eat anything from that side of the mouth till the anesthesia effect wears off.
- Till the crown is fixed on to the prepared tooth, do not eat anything hard or sticky like nuts, gajak, etc.
- You may experience gum soreness, sensitivity to temperature and pressure or just a slight discomfort around the prepared tooth area; do not worry, it should subside after the placement of the permanent crown.
- Brush and Floss normally. If there is any gum inflammation, just rinse with warm salt water.
The second sitting - Crown/Bridge Cementation:
In the second sitting, we permanently fix the crown or the bridge on to your teeth. After fixing the crown/bridge,
- We ask you to bite on to a cotton roll for 5-10 minutes.
- You may experience some minor discomfort for a few days after the treatment. This is normal and your body is just getting used to the new crown. However, if the discomfort persists for more than a week, please call us.
- If you feel pain or pressure during eating or get a feeling that the bite is not right, please visit us for getting the crown adjusted.
- Continue Brushing and flossing as normal.
